My name is Iwan Hoving and I am passionate about water, nature and fishes . As a field guide and an environmental engineer I like to show people the remnants of the river Hunze that used to flow along the city of Groningen (NL). Because the city needed protection against the sea a sluise has been build in 1877 and ever since the free flowing tidal nature of the Hunze has disappeared. This barrier is one of so many in the world, this also means no more possibilities for fish to migrate. Working at the World Fish Migration Day I am very happy to help in any way I can to make free flowing rivers possible and to raise awareness about the importance of fishmigration. Fish happy, me happy.
Currently working as the project manager for Dam Removal Europe.
