Most crustaceans (shrimps and crabs) in the Hengchun Peninsula are migratory species. Although the Hengchun Peninsula accounts for less than 10% of the total area of Taiwan, more than 80% of the land crab species are present in the Hengchun Peninsula. Most land crab species in Kenting National Park release their eggs from May through November. This stream field trip intends to celebrate the 2022 World Fish Migration Day to advocate the importance of the conservation of migratory fauna. We will walk through the Shi-Jai-Kou ecological protected area, the Kenting National Park area, without any paved road. The local professional ecological guides will interpret geography, geology, stream habitat, and migratory organisms. We hope to make attendees recognize the beauty of the stream ecosystem and understand the importance of habitat conservation for migratory organisms.
