38th Annual Creek and Flotilla Cleanup

Every May, local volunteers spread out along Anchorage’s creeks and lakes to remove trash and debris after all the snow melts. Over the past 37 years, thousands have participated in this truly worthwhile event where generations in families continue the tradition. Besides families, there are cleanup teams from local businesses, state, local and federal offices, churches, NGOs, scouts and schools. These volunteers help keep our anadromous waterways (home to 5 species of Pacific salmon) healthy for all to enjoy now and in the future.
Cleaning supplies are provided to volunteers.

Anchorage Waterways Council is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit membership organization whose mission is to promote the prevention of further environmental degradation; and the protection, restoration, and enhancement of waterways, wetlands, and associated uplands within the Municipality of Anchorage. Our members believe that environmentally healthy watersheds are a vital part of the high quality of life that we enjoy in Anchorage. The beautiful creeks of Anchorage need a group specifically dedicated to advocating for their health and well being.
