The status of fish migration in Central Asian streams under impact of hydrotechnical construction
Most of streams (rivers, canals, water reservoirs and lakes are fully regulated in Central Asia due to the development of intensive irrigated agriculture and hydrotechnical construction without taking into account fish migration barriers. Since 1960s many of indigenous fish species were lost or extremely declined in population and areal of distribution. Many of earlier abandone species are today very difficult to find, therefore the last IUCN assessment have estimated more than one third of fish fauna in the region as DD. The present workshop will be devoted to the impact of human activity on fish migration in Central Asian waters.
