To join together restoration efforts in the Town of Kingston's Jones River and the Town of Plymouth's Town Brook, the Jones River Watershed Association is encouraging its members and any other interested party to head out in to bay from their most convenient access point, meeting up near Plymouth Rock before continuing towards Town Brook to disembark.
A map showing a rough approximation of travel distance from various access points is available. It is important to understand your limits and find the access point which is right for you. There are many excellent places to eat at our eventual destination but no food will be provided at the event, so pack a lunch or a snack if needed.
Once we have landed in Plymouth our group will make its way to Brewster Gardens for a short walk along town brook to stretch our legs. Brewster Gardens has benefited greatly from the Town Brook restoration effort and is quite scenic.
Members are encouraged (but not required) to wear fish head masks, or other fish related apparel for the walk along Town Brook. A template for constructing your own paper board mask will be available at the Jones River Landing prior to the event.
The purpose of this event is to both celebrate the restoration efforts which have been completed in recent years in the local area and to encourage people to participate in other World Fish Migration Day events. Please be sure to check out other nearby events on WFMD’s main events page.
Note: Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, as well as the recent global pandemic the timing of this event is subject to change. We will continue to monitor things and update you all nearer to the event date.
