Kangaskoski rapids and former power plant
Kangaskoski rapids is the lowest of the three dams in River Hiitolanjoki, only 900 m from Russian border. Kangaskoski is the first dam removed in Hiitolanjoki. The power production ended and the dam was opened in autumn 2021. River Hiitolanjoki is situated in Rautjärvi municipality and South Karelia region in South Eastern Finland. River is 53 km long of which 8 km is in Finland. The river flows into Lake Ladoga in Russia. Hiitolanjoki is an important spawning river for lake salmon.
