– International speakers with experience in removing barriers from freshwater ecosystems in Europe and around the world.
– Presentation of several projects on barrier removal from rivers in Croatia, as well as the Dam Removal Europe movement.
– Raising awareness about the importance of removing barriers.
– sharing knowledge on tools and resources needed for implementing barrier removal projects in freshwater ecosystems.

With its beautiful rivers and waterfalls, lakes and wetlands, numerous islands and spectacular coastline, dangerous yet challenging peaks, virgin forests and thousands of unique and rare species, the Adria region is a special world, much of it still undiscovered. As part of the WWF global network, WWF Adria was officially established in 2015 to work on the sustainable management of water resources, forests and protected areas, and the conservation of the sea, rivers and wildlife. Through our partner organizations, though, we have been a conservation presence in the region since the beginning of this century.
Venue
WWF will remove 8 barriers in Plitvice Lakes National Park. This removal will enable the whole Bijela Rijeka to be free-flowing and passable for fish and other species.
