Grand River Stormwater Management Tour
From curb-cut rain gardens and water quality “islands” to large bioswales and stream daylighting projects, Grand Rapids has been an innovator in Green Infrastructure in recent years. This bus tour will make stops around the city to learn from local water professionals about these projects that protect our streams and lakes in the Lower Grand River watershed. Green infrastructure keeps sediments off the river bottom, benefiting spawning habitat for migratory fish in the Grand River and its tributaries (Salmonids, sturgeon, suckers). It also keeps pollutants out of the rivers, allowing for fish to flourish. This event will be co-hosted as part of the LGROW spring forum and the Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting (https://jasm2022.aquaticsocieties.org/field-trips-tours/).
