Clean rivers for fish migration
Junior secondary School pupils from 8 A, 8C and 9D aged between 12 -15 years will under take a trip to Chembe Dam 100km from the school where they will carry out the following activities to celebrate world fish migration day
Lessons on sustainable wetlands and fish migration. Experts from the Department of Livestock and Fisheries will be invited to conduct lessons in smaller groups to maximize participation. The emphasis will be on the importance of fish in the ecosystem, effects of invasive plants and human activities, how to manage fish, encourage fish migration and sustain wetland among other things.
Clean up activities:After appreciating fish migrations, and safety rules in managing water ways, learners under the supervision of instructor will participate in cleaning actual water ways, streams or rivers and dams were the fishes live
Games: Games will include the fish challenge where learners will compete in athletic shot racing competition in 100m, 200m, 400m, relay 1×4, 1x4m. Cycling games will be conducted to sum up the eventful day.
