Upper Collinsville Fishway

141 141 people viewed this event.

An open house format at the Upper Collinsville Dam Hydroelectric Project on the Farmington River in the Collinsville section of Canton, CT.  The project includes a Denil fishway for upstream migrating fish, an eel ramp for upstream migrating eels, a special intake rack and surface spill gate for downstream migrating fish, and a submerged Zigzag device to pass downstream migrating eels.  The event is co-sponsored by Canton Hydro, LLC and the Connecticut Rive Salmon Association. Estuary Magazine will be joining as a guest participant. Staff will be on hand to show and explain the facilities to visitors and explain future plans for migratory fish restoration along the Farmington River. It is expected that brown trout will be actively migrating up the fishway and Atlantic salmon smolts may be migrating downstream.  All activities are outside, and the event will be held, rain or shine.  The event is free-of-charge, and no registration is required.  Young children must be closely accompanied by adults at all times.
