We invite you on May 22nd, at 7 p.m. join us for the movie screening of #DamBusters: The start of riverlution (www.dambusters.net) directed by Francisco Campos-Lopez Benyunes. The film tells about iconic cases of river restoration and removal of dams and barriers in Spain, France, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland. After the screening, we will be able to answer questions related to Bulgaria’s rivers and our struggle for their protection, which we have been leading for 13 years.

ABOUT #DAMBUSTERS: THE START OF RIVERLUTION

Who are the most inspiring individuals working tirelessly to restore rivers in Europe? We call them the “DamBusters”. Pao Fernández Garrido from the Dam Removal Europe coalition is on a mission: to see their work at their local rivers and share these exciting stories to inspire more river restorations.

Pao is a forestry engineer, part of the team at Dam Removal Europe (www.damremoval.eu). She specializes in river restoration. Passionate about freediving since a young child, she grew up a dreamer who wanted to one day see the rivers and seas healthy again as they were centuries ago.

Pao asks us: How much would we live if we blocked our arteries/veins? This is what we do when we dam rivers. By blocking the rivers, we are also killing the future of our planet. The solution? There is one sure solution to this problem – the barriers must be removed sooner or later!
