Along a Free-Flowing River: From the Ipoly to the Danube
This public rafting event follows the river journey from the Ipeľ River to the Danube, highlighting the importance of river connectivity and free-flowing rivers for fish migration.
Travelling along the river, participants will experience the landscape from the water while drawing attention to the barriers that disrupt natural river systems and the efforts needed to restore connectivity for migratory fish species.
The event also serves as an opportunity for media coverage and public awareness about the role of connected rivers in maintaining healthy freshwater ecosystems across the Danube basin.
On Saturday evening, participants will gather in Pastovce for an informal discussion session focused on free-flowing rivers, river restoration, and the importance of connectivity for freshwater ecosystems. The session will be led by a WWF Slovakia Fresh Water expert Martina Paulíková
